Phone not charging? What to check first
Start with external accessories
Try a compatible cable and adapter that you know work, and check the outlet. A damaged accessory can cause symptoms similar to a faulty charging port.
Look without forcing the connector
Check for visible debris or damage. Do not insert needles or metal objects. If charging only works when the cable is tilted, avoid putting pressure on it: the connector needs inspection.
When to stop testing
If you notice unusual heat, odor, liquid or a swollen battery, disconnect the device if safe and stop charging it. Do not puncture or compress the battery.
What to tell the repair shop
Mention whether the charging icon appears, whether the battery percentage increases and which cables you tested. These details help distinguish battery, port and charging-circuit issues.
